The column contains two 2 x 160 mm carbon fibre midbass drivers and a 25 mm neodym tweeter, and is supported by a laterally emitting 300 mm woofer. The result of this configuration is a conveniently thin front end combined with monumental bass reproduction. The integrated woofer functions as a pure subwoofer which is coupled at 80 Hz and driven by a separate 190 watt amplifier. Due to the universal design of its rear terminal area, the integrated active subwoofer can be activated by either the sub-out output of an AV receiver or the speaker terminals of your stereo amplifier. In any case, the amplifier/receiver is no longer required for bass reproduction, lending improved ease to the other frequency ranges. Active/passive construction The M 520 F offers a simple way to dramatically improve the bass quality of your stereo system or add two subwoofers to your home cinema system. A three-stage volume selector switch allows you to assign various weights to the subwoofer and tweeter/midrange ranges so that the column speaker can be adjusted to various space requirements. This active/passive construction is effective down to 30 Hz and can generate a breathtaking volume level of 105 dB/meter! The M 520 F provides clear proof that the easiest way to get the best results is to rely on “classical” methods: increased housing volume, large cone surface, solid chassis technology, proven D'Appolito configuration plus a great deal of “inspiration” (see active/passive subwoofer in the column speaker). As a result, this pair of M 520 F column speakers can deliver stereo sound whose quality will simply blow you away. Of that we are certain.

The integrated bass driver functions purely as a subwoofer coupled at 80 Hz and driven by a separate 190 W amplifier. The universal connectors on the rear terminal allow the integrated active subwoofer to be connected to either the ‘Sub Out’ of an AV receiver or the speaker terminals of your stereo amplifier. In any case, this relieves your amplifier/receiver from bass duties and frees it up to concentrate more on the other frequency ranges. Using the M 520 F, you will dramatically improve the bass response of your stereo system. In home theatre environments, you will effectively add two subwoofers to your system. A three-stage volume selector switch allows you to select how much bass is split between the subwoofer and tweeter/mid-range drivers and thus match the system to your listening environment.
